Although the windmills on the South side of Interstate 580 aren't functioning, the windmills along Altamont Pass Road are still running.

Exercising First Amendment Rights

I spent Saturday evening capturing the moon in the Altamont Pass.  What's interesting to note is that I very nearly didn't get to make any pictures. 

While waiting for the moonrise, a security guard approached me and told me that I could not photograph the windmills.  I politely informed him that I was allowed to make pictures from the public road and would do so without crossing on to what he claimed was "private property."

It's important that we protect our civil liberties.
